This weekend, we went camping for this first time in 2011. There are many trips planned for this year and we are so very excited. The trailer was packed full of crafty stuff, toys, food and anything else we needed. We were pretty impressed with the campground. It was clean and quiet. Unlimited firewood was provided if you paid for a fire permit ($8). There were free showers just around the corner from our site. And the best part...there was a lake not far from our site, so we brought Grandpa's canoe to take out on the water one day.
After setting up camp, the kids got out the bee-toss game, and had fun trying to catch the bee.

When the campfire got boring, the girls decided to have some fun playing on the wooden seat for the canoe.

There was lots of fun to have camping. The girls LOVED getting dirty. They weren't too fond of the canoe ride (I didn't take my camera...just in case we tipped!) It was windy, they were uncomfortable in their life jackets, and they were too uncomfortable to hold still (good thing I didn't take my camera!) We paddled out around an island, and back. That was it. They were done. Maybe we will try the canoe thing in a year or two. As we were leaving, we passed by two Bison munching on grass on the side of the road. They were so close to our campsite! The girls rolled down their windows and watched the massive animals snack on greenery. We will definitely be going back to Elk Island Provincial Park.
