She's A Natural

We had our Getz Christmas last night. It is early this year because we are going to California on the 19th to celebrate Christmas with my family. Grandma & Grandpa Getz gave Hannah her first set of cross country skis last night. She insisted on putting on her new white shoes and skiing across the carpet. Had the weather been much warmer than -30 celcius, I think the whole family would have gone outside for a ski.

Fast forward 18 hours, and here we are at home the day after Getz Christmas, playing with all of the new toys, all but one. The weather outside is a brisk -21 today, technically warmer than yesterday, but not noticably so, particularly with the gentle wind blowing. I asked Hannah if she wanted to go for a ski. She gave me a big smile and nodded her head yes. So we bundled up and ventured outside.

Of course...I brought my camera.

She needed help down the driveway as it was a bit icy. But once we got to the walkway, she was ready to go.

The wind in the walkway was much colder than the wind at the front of our house. I had to stop and cover her nose with the scarf - outside for less than 5 minutes and her nose was as red as Rudolph's.

So, today's ski trip didn't last more than 8 minutes, on the long side. I promise to get her skiing as soon as the weather warms up to the point where we don't become human popsicles the minute we step outside.
