Devonian Garden Butterfly Day

The girls and I went to the Devonian Botanical Gardens "Butterfly Day" today and we had sooo much fun. The weather couldn't have been more perfect, and the girls couldn't have been any sweeter. It was simply a perfect spring outing.

First, we made butterfly kites.

This picture is straight out of "Anne of Green Gables". What a cutie.

Making it fly.

Then we decorated butterfly sugar cookies.

Hazel slept through the kite & cookie making.

After we decorated (and ate) the cookies, we went off to make some butterfly antennae.

I made a pair for Hazel, but put them on for a picture with my two biggest butterflies.

Believe it or not, there was even more to do. Who could possibly resist having a butterfly painted on their face? Not my girls.

She doesn't look happy here, but Hailey was thrilled with her purple butterfly.

In fact, she couldn't stop looking in the mirror. :)

Hannah's oh-so-red butterfly.

After disguising themselves as butterflies, we went into the live butterfly exhibit to try to mingle with a few flying butterflies. This was the first one that the girls found.

Followed by this one. I LOVE this picture.

Taking a break to pose for Mommy.

Hailey and Hannah...searching for butterflies. Hailey was pointing at a flower with 3-4 butterflies sitting on it.

Right here...

And finally my littlest butterfly woke up from her nap. These two pictures melt my heart. She is so stinking adorable.

Ready to sip nectar...

Finally at home. They are all really tired here, but only one is showing how truly exhausted she is.

I love going out and exploring with my girls. They are so full of wonder and excitement and it is such a treat to be able to experience it and document it along the way.
