Hopper The Frog

Hannah is home sick today and was supposed to have show & share today at school. So, we created a little word document with pictures and emailed it to her teacher so that she could show the class today even though Hannah wasn't there. Ah, the age of technology.

-----------------------

This is Hopper. He is a frog. I caught him at my Grandma & Grandpa’s house this weekend. He was hard to catch because he had buried himself in the mud. Grandpa had to dig in the mud to get Hopper out.

We brought him back to the house in a bucket, and then put him in our Frog House. It has water for him to swim in and to drink and rocks and plants to hop on.

This is a fly. Hopper likes to eat flies because he is a frog. My Grandpa caught some live flies to put in the house with him. I got to see Hopper eat a fly. He saw the fly and shot out his tongue all the way across the tank to catch it. He smiled after he ate the fly, and we all laughed because it was funny to watch.

In this picture, you can see his nostrils, which is his nose. He has four fingers on his front feet, and three toes on his back feet.  The toes on his back have webs between them. The webbed feet help him to swim fast to get away from birds that are trying to eat him.

Today we are going to let him go in the big pond. He likes to live in a big pond, not the small frog house. I will be sad that he isn’t in my home any more, but I know that Hopper will be happy in his new big pond. I hope he eats a lot of flies.

I love you Hopper.
