The summer days are flying by. Too fast. My mother-in-law, Betty, has decided that for the remainder of summer, every good day (weather speaking) that comes around, she is going to drop everything and go. Even if that means putting work aside. We have done so little this summer, that getting out is a necessity. So today, she phoned me and asked if Hannah and I would like to go out for a picnic. Now, I am in the midst of drowning in wedding photos, but with some gentle coaxing (more like "oh your work can wait...get out...have fun...life is too short to stay inside!"), I relented, and a picnic'n we went.
We drove about 30 minutes outside of Leduc to a neeto nature preserve. Hannah was starving by the time we got there, so she (of course) was served first...literally served. LOL.
Wearing Grandpa's hat and eating a carrot from Grandpa's garden.
Picnic-ess extraordinare.
Mmmm Carrot.
And looked in the crystal clear lake.
There were teeny tiny fish swimming.
Photographer extraordinare, with her rusty-trusty film camera. Can't wait to see what you get this time, Betty! (ps. LOVE this shot BTW).
Dangling her feet. Juuuust too short to reach the water.
Peering over the edge.
Riding the "fallen tree" horse.
A tired girl. She usually naps at 1pm, and we started hiking at that time.
Look! A moose! Noooo, it's just "funny Grandpa".
Grandpa getting a work out while carrying a 30lb sack of potatoes (aka Hannah).
Taking a break. She's heavy isn't she??
There is a memorial garden at this nature preserve.
With willow branch chairs all around so one can sit and remember.
Or, sit and rest. :)
This little tree stump w/ curly bark caught my eye.
As per Getz picnicing tradition, we stopped for ice cream on the way home. This was Hannah's first "all by myself" ice cream cone. And in the car no less! (Thanks for this shot, Betty! You did great with my camera!)

Thanks for dragging me kicking and screaming away from work for a little while. It was lovely to get outside, exercise these computer chair bound legs and breathe some fresh air. Let's do it again soon.
