A Few Days in Saskatchewan

On Wednesday last week, the whole family made a quick trip out to Saskatchewan to attend a funeral. Michael's grandmother (paternal) passed away and we were off to say our final goodbye's. I had met Eva Getz only a few times, and I remember her being a sweet lady who smiled often. However, it seems that most family members remember her for two things: Her unwavering faith in God and her ability to create amazing meals. I feel privileged to have known her for just a short while, and I am deeply grateful for the family that she raised...the family I married into.

In spite of the sad reason for the family gathering, I must say that it was lovely seeing my new extended family again, most of whom I haven't seen since 2003-2004. I hope that we are able to get together again in the not so distant future. I love hearing all of the stories and the laughter.

Finally, I have just a little side note for Barb & Grant...thank you so much for opening a jar of home-canned dilled green beans, just for me! You have no idea how much I enjoyed nibbling on those, and how much they reminded me of my own grandfather. It truly was one of the highlights of this little trip. :)
